Sunshine Coast Denture Relines

Over time your mouth changes, particularly if you have recently had teeth removed. This will create space between your dentures and your gums. This space can affect the fit, suction, comfort, stability and strength of your dentures. If your upper denture feels loose, if you are beginning to get soreness on your lower denture, if your partial denture has instability or if you have broken your denture suddenly then you may require a reline.

A reline will fill in the free space between your gums and where your denture was originally made. An impression on the inside of your existing denture will be required to record the free space. The Denture Kitchen will then replace and convert the impression material with acrylic to fill in any spaces, improving the fit of your dentures.

Ideally, a morning appointment is preferred to be able to return your dentures by the end of the day.

The Denture Kitchen can offer advice whether a reline is suitable for your circumstance.

More detailed information can be found in the ‘Reline Information Form’ which can be found on the ‘Patient Information’ section of this website.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can a broken denture be repaired?

Yes, many broken dentures can be repaired depending on the damage. Cracks, fractured bases or broken artificial teeth are often restorable. The Denture Kitchen assesses the condition in person and advises what repairs are possible. We recommend avoiding home fixes or glues, as they can make repairs more difficult or affect the fit of the denture.

  • How long does a denture repair take?

Repair time depends on the type and extent of the damage. In some cases, repairs can be completed on the same day if the denture is brought in early and the structure allows for it. The Denture Kitchen completes all denture repairs onsite and will confirm the timeframe after examining the appliance in person.

  • Should I use glue to fix my denture at home?

No, using glue or adhesives to fix a denture at home is not recommended. Store-bought products may cause further damage or interfere with how the denture fits. It may also make future repairs more difficult. Our recommended option is to bring the denture to our clinic for assessment and repair.

  • What types of damage can be repaired?

Common denture repairs include fixing cracks, reattaching broken teeth, repairing fractured bases and correcting detached sections. In some cases, the structure may be too worn or damaged to repair, and a replacement may be advised. We’ll assess the denture at your appointment and provide advice about available options.
