Sunshine Coast Implant Supported Dentures
With the limitations of standard conventional dentures using only suction or clasps, implant retained dentures offer greater stability and support. This alternative utilises implant fixtures or screws being placed in to the jawbone by a dentist. Once healed, the corresponding implant components can be included in to your dentures, giving them greater support and security when in use and still being able to be removed when required.
Implants can be placed in both the upper jaw and lower jaw and can be fabricated as fixed or removable appliances.
The Denture Kitchen is able to produce new dentures, or in some cases, use your well-fitting old dentures to incorporate your new implants.
Adding More Support
If you already have implants placed, then come straight in to see us!
The Denture Kitchen can assess your current situation and liaise with dentists and oral surgeons to give you further diagnoses and place implants. Once placed, The Denture Kitchen is able to restore and fabricate a removable prosthetic made for your specific situation with a beautiful, custom made implant retained denture. The Denture Kitchen is able to refer and coordinate appointments and guide you through the whole process.
If you think this may be an option or if you would like more information, come in so we can discuss how The Denture Kitchen can help.
Frequently Asked Questions
What are implant retained dentures?
Implant retained dentures are removable dentures that attach to dental implants placed in the jawbone. These implants are inserted by a dentist or oral surgeon, and once healed, components are added to connect the denture to the implant points. This type of denture can provide more support than conventional options using suction or clasps alone and is suitable for either the upper or lower arch.
Can I use my current denture with implants?
In some cases, an existing denture may be adapted to work with new dental implants, depending on the fit, structure and condition of the denture. At The Denture Kitchen, we assess whether your current denture is suitable for conversion or whether a new one should be made. This is discussed during your consultation once implant healing is confirmed.
What is the process for getting implant retained dentures?
The process begins with implant placement by a dentist or oral surgeon. Once healing is complete, we take impressions and fabricate the denture to connect to the implant fixtures. The Denture Kitchen can assist with referrals, scheduling and communication with your dental provider throughout the process. The final denture is designed to be removable for cleaning and long-term maintenance.
Are implant retained dentures fixed or removable?
Implant retained dentures are generally removable, although fixed options may also be available depending on the clinical plan. Removable designs are common because they allow for easier cleaning and adjustment. We discuss these options based on the number of implants, the arch involved and your overall treatment goals. We also coordinate with your oral health provider before fabrication begins.
