Sunshine Coast Full Dentures

Do you have an existing set of dentures that are worn out, uncomfortable or loose? Are you unable to chew food efficiently anymore? Dentures certainly have a lifespan, and it may be time to replace them. More and more people are requesting dentures to look more natural. Gone are the days of those ‘piano key’ looking dentures.

We use only the highest quality dentures, teeth and acrylics from leading European brands to fabricate your beautiful new dentures.

Let’s spend the time together to create something beautiful, functional and comfortable. If there are certain aspects of your current/old dentures that you don’t like, let Tom know and he will endeavour to improve them. If you’ve got old pictures of how you once looked, bring them along, or allow Tom to use his creativity to provide a beautiful smile that will reflect you. Let’s make something that you’ll be proud to smile with.

Aiming for Functionality

If you don’t already have dentures and need a little more information, full dentures are a removable appliance that replaces all of your missing teeth on one or both arches of your mouth. We call this being ‘Edentulous’. Of course, there are certain limitations and ‘rules’ to follow in the fabrication of complete dentures. Trying to find the happy balance between complete tooth loss (Edentulism) and creating a set of false teeth that are aesthetic, functional and stable will be discussed throughout treatment. Conventional full dentures work best on well healed gums, so if you have natural teeth already and think they may need to be removed, then you may require an ‘Immediate Denture’.

There is more information about ‘Immediate Dentures’ on our site, and more detailed information in the ‘Patient Information’ section of this website.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What are full dentures?

Full dentures are removable appliances used to replace all missing teeth in either the upper or lower arch. They are typically made from acrylic and shaped using impressions of your mouth. Full dentures are used when no natural teeth remain and can support basic functions such as eating and speaking. They are fitted after tooth loss or as part of a planned extraction process.

  • How long do full dentures last?

Full dentures generally last several years but may need to be relined, adjusted or replaced over time due to changes in the gums and jaw. Fit and comfort can shift as the mouth changes, especially in the first few years after extractions. We recommend reviewing your dentures regularly to assess whether any adjustments or replacement are needed for continued function.

  • When should I replace my dentures?

You may need to replace your dentures if they feel loose, become difficult to use or no longer match your bite. Other signs include visible wear, cracks or discolouration. If you’ve had the same set for several years, it’s recommended to have them assessed to determine whether a reline or replacement is appropriate.

  • Can I get full dentures if I still have some teeth?

If you still have some natural teeth, full dentures may be an option after those teeth are removed. In many cases, we start by discussing whether extractions are required and whether an immediate denture is appropriate during the healing phase. Once the gums are healed, we can proceed with planning for a long-term full denture.
