Full Dentures

Do you have an existing set of dentures that are worn out, uncomfortable, or loose? Are you unable to chew food efficiently anymore? Dentures certainly have a lifespan, and it may be time to replace them. More and more people are requesting dentures to look more natural. Gone are the days of those ‘piano key’ looking dentures.

We use only the highest quality denture teeth and acrylic from leading European brands to fabricate your beautiful new dentures.

Let’s spend the time together to create something beautiful, functional and comfortable. If there’s certain aspects of your current / old dentures that you don’t like, let Tom know and he will endeavour to improve them. If you’ve got old pictures of how you once looked, bring them along, or allow Tom to use his creativity to provide a beautiful smile that will reflect you – let’s make something that you’ll be proud to smile with.

If you don’t already have dentures and need a little more information - Complete dentures are a removable appliance that replaces ALL of your missing teeth on one, or both arches of your mouth. We call this being ‘Edentulous’. Of course, there are certain limitations and ‘rules’ to follow in the fabrication of complete dentures to try and find the happy balance between complete tooth loss (Edentulism) and creating a set of false teeth that are aesthetic, functional & stable, which will be discussed throughout treatment. Conventional complete dentures work best on well healed gums, so if you have natural teeth already and think they may need to be removed, then you may require an ‘Immediate Denture’.

There is more information about ‘Immediate Dentures’ below, and more detailed information in the ‘Patient Information’ section of this website

Come in and talk to us about how we can personalise a new smile for you.

Partial dentures

If you still have natural teeth but have a few spaces you’d like to fix or fill, a Removable Partial Denture is a great way to fill spaces where your teeth once were, utilising your remaining teeth to support and retain the denture in when in use.

A well-designed, well-fitting partial denture should stabilise & improve function, improve aesthetics, improve phonetics, support the lips & face and reduce the risk of your natural teeth from drifting and over-erupting too!

In most cases, we can design partial dentures to predict some amount of future tooth loss if required, which means if you happen to lose a natural tooth along the way you won’t have to replace your entire denture!

New Dentures — Custom Denture Services in Maroochydore, QLD

Implant retained dentures

With the limitations of standard conventional dentures using only suction or clasps, Implant Retained Dentures offer greater stability and support. This alternative utilises implant fixtures or screws being placed in to the jawbone by a dentist. Once healed, the corresponding implant components can be included in to your dentures, giving them greater support and security when in use and still being able to be removed when required.

Implants can be placed in both the upper jaw and lower jaw and can be fabricated as fixed or removable appliances.

The Denture Kitchen is able to produce new dentures, or in some cases use your well-fitting old dentures to incorporate your new implants.

If you already have implants placed, then come straight in to see us!

The Denture Kitchen can assess your current situation and liaise with dentists and oral surgeons to give you further diagnoses and place implants. Once placed, The Denture Kitchen is able to restore and fabricate a removable prosthesis made for your specific situation with a beautiful, custom made Implant retained denture. The Denture Kitchen is able to refer and coordinate appointments and guide you through the whole process.

If you think this may be an option or if you would like more information, come in so we can discuss how The Denture Kitchen can help.

Immediate dentures

Immediate Dentures, also called transitional, interim, or temporary dentures are made to replace unhealthy teeth, or teeth lost to trauma & accident. They assist the ‘transition’ from having natural dentition in to denture wearing.
Immediate Dentures are referred to for both partial and complete dentures which are inserted in to the mouth at the time of tooth extraction, so you’ll never be without your smile!

It is a process whereby the dentures are planned and fabricated while your natural teeth still remain.

We will consult with you, liaise and coordinate dental extraction appointments with your dentist, plan the dentures and fabricate them right here on-site. Once your new immediate denture is completed and ready, you can pick the denture up from The Denture Kitchen and take them to your dentist for tooth extraction, and ‘Immediate’ insertion of the dentures, meaning you won’t be without teeth!

The dentures are used as a functional and aesthetic solution while your gums are healing as a result of tooth extraction.

The Denture Kitchen understands and appreciates that this process can in some cases be quite emotional, and with almost all dentures a very personal experience. Having poor oral health may impact you social and professional activities - in most cases this process dramatically improves self-esteem and we’ll do our best to help get that confidence back. We will try to explain and guide the process with the least amount of fuss, and the most care and attention to your new teeth.

The main thing to remember with immediate dentures is that they are generally produced for a very specific purpose - to help replace unhealthy teeth, which means there is a lot of information to cover.

For more detailed information please see out FAQ’s section or, download our ‘Immediate denture information’ form which can be found on the ‘Patient Information’ section of this website.

Mouthguards

PREVENT INJURY! GUARD YOUR SMILE!

Let your creative side run free and allow The Denture Kitchen to make a custom mouthguard that not only looks and feels great but will more importantly increase the protection of your mouth while playing your favourite sports.

A custom mouthguard based on an impression of your mouth is designed to absorb and spread the impact of a potential damaging blow which may cause injury to the mouth. A mouthguard is a made from an EVA vacuum formed material that adds multi-layer protection.

For most team sports it is a requirement to play with a mouthguard. No mouthguard, No Play policies exist at some sports clubs, but you don’t have to be playing high impact team sports to wear a mouthguard – a mouthguard can be used while playing most sports for added protection. For your own oral protection, a mouthguard should be a mandatory piece of equipment.

Types of sports related dental injuries can include;

  • Broken teeth
  • Knocked out teeth
  • Chipped teeth
  • Concussion
  • Broken Jaw
  • Cut lips, gums, cheeks, tongue

While not only increasing protection and defence against collision, while in use a custom mouthguard can improve speech & communication and the ability to breathe compared to a store-bought boil and bite mouthguard by having a superior cohesive full coverage fit and even occlusal contact.

For younger patients that still have emerging teeth, The Denture Kitchen can accommodate for these erupting teeth, so the mouthguard will last the whole season for our growing future sports superstars!

The cost of an injury to the teeth or jaw far exceeds the cost of a custom fitted mouthguard, and repair work to natural teeth does not last forever.

Remember – you are at just as much risk during training as you are during the game.

The Denture Kitchen will take care of everything from impression taking, fabrication and fitting of your mouthguard, while making everyone feel comfortable with the process.

Broken Denture — Custom Denture Services in Maroochydore, QLD

Relines

Over time your mouth changes, particularly if you have recently had teeth removed. This will create space between your dentures and your gums. This space can affect the fit, suction, comfort, stability and strength of your dentures. If your upper denture feels loose, if you are beginning to get soreness on your lower denture, if your partial denture has instability or if you have broken your denture suddenly then you may require a reline.

A reline will fill in the free space between your gums and where your denture was originally made. An impression on the inside of your existing denture will be required to record the free space. The Denture Kitchen will then replace and convert the impression material with acrylic to fill in any spaces, improving the fit of your dentures.

Ideally, a morning appointment is preferred to be able to return your dentures by the end of the day.

The Denture Kitchen can offer advice whether a reline is suitable for your circumstance.

More detailed information can be found in the ‘Reline Information Form’ which can be found on the ‘Patient Information’ section of this website.

Additions / Modifications

If you already wear dentures and require a tooth to be removed, or if you have already had a tooth removed you may need to add it to your existing denture. Additions and modifications to existing / old dentures can usually take place in a single day. A morning appointment will be required to take the records and allow time to complete work on the denture, then an afternoon appointment to issue your denture back to you. We will need to keep your denture for the time it is being worked on.

The Denture Kitchen is able to coordinate appointments with your dentist for assessments and tooth removal.
